IT Concepts is looking for an experienced CICS Systems Programmer to support Social Security Administration (SSA). You will work hands-on supporting over 850 CICS v 5.3 regions on IBM Z Series mainframe, accessing databases such as DB2 and IDMS, and middleware such as WebSphere and over 70,000 users and more than 250 million transactions per day in SSA's mission-critical environment. This role will install, administer, customize and troubleshoot SSA's CICS architecture, including systems software programs, custom applications software, and third-party tools. You will analyze high-level requirements and produce detailed design documents and flowcharts, develop, test, maintain, document, and deploy CICS systems level and application software features. You will perform life cycle management to create or modify CICS architecture and manage problems and support production issues.

Responsibilities:
  • Create new or modify existing CICS regions in support of new SSA applications or CICS architecture re-engineering initiatives including:
    • Resource Definition Online (RDO) definitions, JCL, PARM changes in support of applications life cycles in various lower and upper environments
    • Manage region configurations and documentation for environment life cycle releases.
  • Provide problem resolution that includes diagnosis and root cause analysis of CICS application software problems, CICS configurations, or CICS software-related problems.
  • Perform installation and maintenance of CICS software and third-party vendor software following SSA standards including researching compatibility, establishing a test plan, coordinating test activities. Provide a project plan and schedule to upgrade CICS and third-party vendor software using SMP/E across SSA's System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Requirements
  • Minimum 8 years of experience working with CICS systems using a combination of the following: SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, z/OS, and JCL.
  • Install and support CICSPlex Systems Manager, CICS Abend-AID and Abend-AID for DB2, WebServices for CICS, BMC 3270 Super Optimizer for CICS, Intertest, IBM CTG-CICS Transaction Gateway, IBM CICS Interdependency Analyzer, IBM Tivoli Omegamon XE and Tivoli Enterprise Portal for CICS, Top Secret
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution (preferred)
  • Experience in developing and deploying complex IT systems
  • Experience writing and updating systems documentation, documenting problems
  • Ability to develop project and test plans and schedules
  • Experience in troubleshooting CICS systems problems
  • Experience with Assembler Language Code (ALC) and COBOL programming
  • Experience with Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) through lower and upper environments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience interfacing directly with clients

Preferred:

o Experience with disaster recovery exercises.

o Experience with monitoring tools such as Omegamon and Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEPS)

Clearance requirements:

Must be able to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance
