Hybrid: This means the successful candidate is expected to report to their primary location (Warren, MI) three times per week, at minimum.

The Role:

The Engineering Group Manager position in the TRP Diagnostics & Prognostics team will lead a team of engineers focused on Testing and Battery Life Modeling. The TRP organization is focused on end-to-end delivery of software for the detection and prevention of thermal events in high voltage batteries for GM's EV portfolio. This includes both on-board and off-board diagnostic and prognostic development and representation of safety critical content at the highest levels of the company.

  • Supporting a vision and roadmap for the organization's future
  • Champion a culture of innovation and change agility
  • Finding opportunities for the application of data to expand the impact for the organization

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering to include Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 7+ years of engineering experience related to embedded control system, calibration, related hardware, and/or safety critical system development
  • Demonstrated results in successful project execution
  • Excellent multi-functional communication and leadership skills - able to get multiple teams moving in the same direction and represent the organization in high level forums
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions regarding safety critical systems
  • Working knowledge of the software development and delivery process, including design, coding, testing, calibration, and deployment of embedded content


What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills)
  • Master of Science in in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Aerospace, Systems or Software Engineering and/or Master of Business Administration
  • Leadership experience of teams of engineers responsible for developing or testing embedded control systems
  • Working knowledge of HV RESS systems and their failure modes
  • Leadership experience in safety compliance of embedded systems
  • Experience in working in an Agile development framework
  • Leadership of teams of engineers responsible for developing or testing embedded control systems or related hardware
  • Working knowledge of embedded controls development tool set - (e.g. IBM Rational Tool Suite, Jira/Jira Align, Git ecosystem)
