Our team, AIG SHARK, aims to build AI software solutions that are unified, performant, flexible, and customizable while also being the catalyst of AI software development across AMD. THE ROLE:

We're seeking an experienced Engineering Director to help shift-left and "shift-open" the overall development processes of our GPU development stack. The focus will be on building test automation infrastructure and the role will require some hands-on work for early bring-up of additional test automation infrastructure.

The impact you will have:
  • Accelerate the development and delivery of our overall GPU portfolio
  • Drive decisions that impact the entire developer ecosystem around AI inference and training on AMD GPUs
  • Grow leaders across AMD by teaching them best practices in test automation and shift-left benefits.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate will have experience with enabling shift-left test automation in large open-source projects and be capable of hands-on development of test automation software when necessary. The person will also need experience building organizations and collaborating with stakeholders across a company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Architect our overall test automation strategy and architecture
  • Building a team from the ground-up to implement the above strategy
  • Hands-on prototyping of new test automation workflows as needed collaborating with build automation architects and other teams building infrastructure across AMD
  • Define and track key performance metrics for test automation such as e2e test times, test coverage, device utilization, and costs.
  • Work closely with developers to understand their pain points and challenges with test workflows.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering
  • 5+ years of software engineering management
  • Expertise on build or test automation at scale.
  • Expertise on build and test automation systems leveraged by large open-source projects

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Deep knowledge of the GitHub build and test automation ecosystem and hands-on experience building complex test automation workflows optimizing for cost and overall test performance.
  • Experience with test automation for GPU accelerators
  • Experience on test automation for both Windows and Linux
  • Expertise building teams from scratch
