We are currently seeking a Crude Oil Accountant for a 6+ month contract opportunity in Houston, TX. This role is ideal for experienced professionals in oil and gas accounting who are skilled in SAP S4, crude movement actualization, and month-end financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform actualization of crude movements using SAP S4 Trader and Scheduler Workbench.

• Handle month-end close processes, including journal entries, variance analysis, and financial reporting.

• Manage settlement/netout payments and work closely with traders, schedulers, and front-office stakeholders.

• Reconcile accounts, including A/R and A/P variances, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

• Assist with internal controls, audits (internal and external), and ad hoc reporting.

• Support the accounting function in ongoing business initiatives and financial projects.

Required Qualifications

• 3-5 years of accounting experience (required)

• BS in Accounting (required)

• Strong background in volumetric crude oil accounting

• Proven experience with month-end closing, accruals, and general ledger entries

• Familiarity with settlement and payment processes

• Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUP, PivotTables, formulas)

• Solid understanding of GAAP accounting and financial principles

• Minimum of 2 years in public or corporate accounting (oil & gas experience strongly preferred)

Preferred Experience

• Experience using SAP S4

• Familiarity with Blackline or similar reconciliation tools

• CPA or relevant financial certification
