Job Details

Description:
As a member of the Battery Modeling team, you will be supporting Thermal modeling for all products. You will execute existing simulation workflows for new programs and also work with the Product Design team from the earliest stages, analyzing and informing the design of cutting-edge products. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams within Apple to provide design guidance in terms of thermal impact of the product features.

* Develop of state of art Thermal as well as multi-physics finite element (FE) models of cell, pack, and BMS sub-systems.
* Generate models/capability to convert power map into thermal outputs.
* Perform advanced Thermal CAE simulations to evaluate and enhance understanding of the various boundary conditions at the cell, pack, BMS sub-systems around battery packs well as in system.
* Use best in class tools and solvers to generate the necessary simulation models and results.
* Work with test and reliability labs, to develop physical test methods, to gather necessary data for results validation.
* Work with system teams, to collaborate on developing detailed sub-models to be used in assembly level simulations.
* Develop optimized workflows and/or reusable templates for regularly required thermal simulations.
* Develop and implement best practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD + 3 yrs industry experience
- Mechanical or electrical engineering background with strong foundation in thermal simulations field.
- Experience in transient thermal simulations of assemblies
- [MUST HAVE] Expert level skillset related to Ansys electronic desktop, including HFSS, SIWave and IcePak.
- Familiarity with NX, Comsol, Cadence
- Experience in electronic heating and cooling and CFD
- Familiarity with multi-physics coupled modeling, integrating mechanical, thermal and electrochemical behaviors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD + 5 yrs relevant experience
- Experience in Allegro and electronics layout design
- Familiarity with li-ion cells and battery packs
- Experience in defining and leading technical development roadmap
- Experience in managing project teams
- Python and other scripting languages
