Data Scientist

The Analytics and Behavior Change organization is looking for an accomplished data scientist to join its Next Best Action team. This person would work with a cross-functional group of data scientists, data engineers, and marketing experts to design behavior change experiments, engineer them, and statistically measure them to evaluate the impact of the intervention(s). We are looking for innovative and driven individuals to join our team. As a Data Scientist at CVS Health, you will be at the forefront of utilizing advanced analytics to drive strategic initiatives and support our mission of providing top-notch care to our members.

Description/Fundamental Components:

Explores, examines and interprets large volumes of data in various forms. Performs analyses of structured and unstructured data to solve complex business problems Performs statistical impact measurement of large-scale RCTs (A/B tests) using industry-standard statistical methods driving actionable insights Develops, validates, and executes algorithms and predictive models to investigate problems, detect patterns, and recommend solutions Uses data visualization techniques to effectively communicate analytical results and support business decisions Documents projects exhaustively Effectively communicates results and insights to internal and external stakeholders Uses an iterative approach to build analytics solutions, starting with fundamental models and progressively enhancing complexity based on observed impact, balancing effort with outcome

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of relevant data science and/or data analytics experience
  • Strong Experience in Python and SQL

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in our Python stack: Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, Matplotlib/Plotly, statsmodels.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (especially Google Cloud Platform)
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals (e.g., can write clean python functions and classes)
  • Experimental Design and Statistical Analysis: strong foundation in designing and evaluating experiments, with a focus of causal inference, A/B testing, and statistical measurement to drive informed decision making.
  • Workflow automation: experience with workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow to manage and streamline complex data processes
  • Experience using version control (i.e., git)
  • Effective written and verbal communication, including a strong ability to communicate technical concepts and implications to non-technical business partners
  • Effectively resolves problems and roadblocks as they occur
  • Demonstrates proficiency in several areas of data modeling, machine learning algorithms, statistical analysis, data engineering and data visualization
  • Ability to work with large data sets from multiple data sources
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Physics, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Master's degree preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$86,520.00 - $173,040.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
