We are seeking a highly skilled Fixture Design Engineer with strong experience in CATIA V5/V6 to join a Global Automotive engineering team. This role involves the design and development of fixtures used in vehicle part processing supporting welding, painting, assembly, and testing phases.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of automotive body part construction, be able to interpret and apply datum and weld specifications, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure fixtures meet all technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Design fixturing for vehicle parts during processes such as weld, paint, assembly, and testing using CATIA V5/V6.
Interpret body part construction, weld specifications, and datums to ensure accurate and functional fixture design.
Conduct layout checks in collaboration with key stakeholders to validate fixture performance and compliance.
Export 3D/2D data for outsourcing to suppliers, including managing quote requests and purchase orders.
Identify and propose improvements to existing fixturing and related processes.
Support additional fixture, test equipment, and prototyping needs across the company.
Collaborate with teams such as Interior Design (evaluation models) and Aerodynamics (wind tunnel test models).
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent work experience).
Minimum 3 years of hands-on design experience in a similar role.
Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6
Strong knowledge of vehicle construction and assembly
Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
Bonus Skillset:
Experience working with external suppliers and manufacturing partners
Familiarity with prototyping and test model development
Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
Location: Raymond, Ohio
Rate: $35 - $40 W2
Duration: 12+ months
