Job Description:

We are seeking a seasoned Splunk Dashboard Developer with strong UI/UX sensibility and a deep understanding of telemetry and observability data to join our team in Reston, VA. This is a fully onsite role, and the selected candidate will play a critical role in designing and developing business-facing dashboards that transform complex telemetry data into intuitive, actionable visual insights.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop highly interactive, user-friendly dashboards using Splunk Dashboard Studio, Splunk XML, and JavaScript.
Translate business and IT requirements into rich data visualizations, popups, and dashboard interactions.
Utilize Splunk Query Language (SPL) and regular expressions to extract and visualize meaningful insights from a variety of logs and telemetry data.
Build and enhance dashboards that serve both business and IT teams, utilizing data sourced from OpenTelemetry traces, logs, and metrics.
Understand and work with data in OTLP, JSON, XML formats to support visualizations related to SLA/SLO monitoring and business process health.
Work independently as an individual contributor, taking ownership of assigned dashboard development tasks.
Collaborate with stakeholders to refine dashboard requirements and ensure usability, performance, and data accuracy.
Required Skills & Experience:
Extensive hands-on experience in Splunk Dashboard development, including Splunk Dashboard Studio and traditional XML-based dashboards.
Strong front-end/UI development skills with a focus on interactivity and usability.
Splunk certification (Admin, Developer, or any other recognized certification).
Proficient in SPL, regular expressions, and data extraction from logs.
Exposure to Java and Python for instrumentation and data integration.
Solid understanding of AWS services, particularly EC2, S3, Lambda, and ECS.
Familiarity with SRE concepts such as SLA/SLO monitoring and persona-based dashboards.
Knowledge of OpenTelemetry, OTLP data structures, and telemetry data formats (logs, metrics, traces).
Self-starter with the ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and contribute meaningfully to business goals.
