Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Network Administrator to join our IT team. The successful candidate will support and assist maintaining the organization's on-premise network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security. This role requires hands-on troubleshooting, basic configuration tasks, and a strong willingness to learn and grow within the networking domain.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Follow established ticketing procedures using ServiceNow (SNOW).
  • Perform initial configuration and shipment of networking equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Troubleshoot minor network issues (e.g., devices not connecting to the network).
  • Make basic changes within the network environment under guidance.
  • Monitor network performance using tools such as SolarWinds (or similar).
  • Work with authentication servers like Portnox (similar to Cisco ISE).
  • Demonstrate familiarity with networking concepts such as subnetting and the OSI model.
  • Understand core networking protocols and services (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP).
  • Maintain documentation of network systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and escalate complex issues as needed.

Required Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years of experience in IT support or system/network administration with relevant degree/certification; 2+ additional years of experience in lieu of.
  • Experience with Cisco products.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols and services (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP).
  • Basic understanding of subnetting and the OSI network model.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or CompTIA Network+.
  • Experience with asset management.
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux server environments.
  • Exposure to network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds).
  • Familiarity with authentication servers (e.g., Portnox, Cisco ISE).
  • Conceptual familiarity with firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto)
  • Understand and interact with DHCP servers and IP address assignment.
  • Familiarity with configuring access points using Cisco Catalyst WLAN controllers.
  • No cloud networking responsibilities; however, conceptual understanding is beneficial.
