Senior Mechanical & Structural Engineering Manager | SLS

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SIWS) is seeking a Senior Mechanical & Structural Engineering Manager to lead shipside production support for Space Launch Systems (SLS) at the Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, LA.
In this role, you will oversee a team of Vehicle Lead Engineers, Stress Engineers, and Structural/Mechanical Designers, ensuring the successful integration and structural integrity of key vehicle components. You will drive the integration of engineering solutions with production processes to enable a smooth transition from design to manufacturing, while championing data-driven decision-making to proactively address technical challenges. Facilitating cross-disciplinary collaboration, you will lead problem-solving efforts that resolve complex issues impacting vehicle assembly and launch readiness. Additionally, you will promote a culture of continuous learning and innovation, support quality assurance practices to maintain the highest standards of safety and reliability, and act as a key liaison between engineering teams and external partners to maintain program alignment. Your leadership will be essential to maintaining production quality and meeting program objectives that support NASA's space exploration missions.

Position Responsibilities:
- Manages employees and mid-level managers performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Mechanical & Structural Engineering.
- Develops and executes integrated organizational plans, policies and procedures, and guides the development of business and technical strategies, goals, objectives.
- Acquires resources for organizational activities, provides technical management of suppliers, and leads process improvements.
- Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
- Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
- Manages, develops, and motivates employees and mid-level managers.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science from an accredited course of study, in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, data science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
- 10+ years of engineering experience.

- Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.
