Job Description

Protecting what matters most is the mission that matters most.

Space is a critical domain, connecting our technologies, our security and our humanity. While others view space as a destination, we see it as a realm of possibilities, where we can do more - we can innovate, invest, inspire and integrate our capabilities to transform the future.

At Lockheed Martin Space, we aim to harness the full potential of space to cultivate innovation, reduce costs, and push the boundaries of what technology can achieve. We're creating future-ready solutions, focusing on resiliency and urgency through our 21st Century Security vision. We're erasing boundaries and forming partnerships across industries and around the world. We're advancing spacecraft and the workforce to fuel the next generation. And we're reimagining how space can connect us, ensuring security and prosperity.

Lockheed Martin seeks an innovative and talented Spacecraft Responsible Systems Engineer (SC RSE) to join the Global Security team in Denver, Colorado.

The Global Security Spacecraft Responsible Systems Engineer (SC RSE) plays a vital role in end-to-end program execution by guiding the technical development of the spacecraft through all programmatic phases from initial design formulation, design maturation, production/manufacturing, system level integration & test, and deployment into flight operations.
The SC RSE has a strong understanding of all spacecraft subsystems, the internal/external interfaces, and how the entire system functions within a complex System-of-Systems operation to accomplish its mission.

You will directly support the Chief Engineer and Lead Systems Engineer, and will work closely with a team of top technical talent from across the program to provide the best, integrated solution that meets overall performance, cost and schedule needs.
You will be leading an integrated team through overall system design, requirements development, test execution, requirements verification, and certification activities in support of completing key program milestones within budget and schedule, and delivering a certified system to meet customer needs.
A successful SC RSE seeks to move the design/build/test of the spacecraft forward within the framework of the overall program, while demonstrating the ability to manage priorities and make proper risk-based decisions related to spacecraft build/performance within the program's cost and schedule constraints.
As such, the SC RSE provides the senior technical leadership on the program and is the primary interface between the technical team and program executive leadership.

As a Spacecraft Responsible Systems Engineer (SC RSE), your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following

Balance and assess the design, test program and requirements to meet mission needs
Enforce the Systems Engineering processes and functions, tailored to a go-fast program
Establish and enforce the standard for anomaly investigations
Ensure adequate peer reviews and trade study rigor to confirm all engineering changes are complete prior to implementation
Ensure leadership (Chief Engineer, Program Management, Customer Counterparts) are informed & engaged in decisions which impact contractual performance
Ensure technical risks are adequately represented

Selected candidates will typically have a Bachelors degree, or higher, in Engineering or other technical discipline with 14+ years of related professional work experience
