Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?
Travelers is seeking a Infrastructure Engineer I to join our organization as we grow and transform our Enterprise Technology Solutions organization. Our Infrastructure Engineers serve as a foundational cornerstone of the enterprise technology ecosystem, encompassing a diverse portfolio of critical systems that power all business operations. This discipline may include mainframe systems, compute resources, storage solutions, collaboration tools, and specialized platforms that enable system interoperability. As the bedrock layer of the technology stack, Infrastructure Engineering creates the resilient, secure, and scalable environments upon which all other technology services depend, balancing the maintenance of established systems with the adoption of modern cloud-native approaches to drive organizational agility and innovation.

This role will be responsible for managing and supporting data integration platforms that enable seamless file transfers with our internal and external partners. It encompasses the full spectrum of integration platform engineering responsibilities, from maintaining mission-critical mainframe-to-distributed system data transfer solutions to driving innovative cloud-based connectivity architectures that support our enterprise application strategy and digital transformation initiatives.Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the US. What Will You Do?
  • Responsible for performing analysis, design, and implementation of infrastructure components across various domains (which may include mainframe systems, collaboration tools, compute resources, storage solutions, or other specialized areas) with a high degree of accuracy.


Technical Execution:
  • Define and implement technical requirements for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and operational support using appropriate automation methodologies.
  • Enhance infrastructure deployment workflows to improve system reliability, resource utilization, and operational efficiency while resolving infrastructure issues of intermediate complexity.
  • Configure and optimize physical, virtualized, and cloud-based infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and operational resilience across multiple technology domains.
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure monitoring, capacity planning, and incident response procedures while ensuring adherence to security protocols and compliance requirements.


Strategic Input:
  • Collaborate with software, platform, and operations teams to align infrastructure capabilities with application requirements and business needs.
  • Provide technical guidance to Associate and Sr Associate Infrastructure Engineers while contributing to infrastructure standards and best practices.
  • Evaluate new infrastructure technologies and methodologies to identify opportunities for operational improvements and technology modernization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

Technical Expertise & Education:
  • Three (3) years of infrastructure engineering/systems administration experience preferred.
  • If specializing in a certain domain of infrastructure engineering, proven expertise in that specific area with ability to work across related systems.
  • Domain Expertise - Demonstrated track record of infrastructure expertise including the ability to understand system concepts necessary to do the job effectively, demonstrate willingness, cooperation, and concern for business issues, and possess in-depth knowledge of immediate infrastructure systems worked on.


Leadership & Influence:
  • Strong communication skills that enable clear, concise interactions with team members and stakeholders. Your ability to document infrastructure work in an accessible manner, ask clarifying questions on requirements, and actively listen ensures seamless collaboration. You welcome constructive feedback and use it to continuously improve your approach to infrastructure challenges.
  • You demonstrate intermediate leadership capabilities with a proven track record of self-motivation and initiative. Strategic & Business Acumen:
  • Intermediate delivery skills including the ability to deliver infrastructure work at a steady, predictable pace to achieve commitments, decompose infrastructure assignments into small batch deployments, and contribute to system architecture tradeoff and negotiation discussions.
  • Proven problem-solving skills including infrastructure debugging abilities, allowing you to determine source of issues in unfamiliar systems or environments, ability to recognize and solve repetitive infrastructure problems proactively and permanently, recognize mistakes using them as learning opportunities, and break down large infrastructure problems into smaller, more manageable ones.


What is a Must Have?
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent in work experience plus 2 years of infrastructure engineering experience.
