Android Quality Engineer

Location: Cincinnati, OH/San Jose, CA/Charlotte, NC/Boca Raton, FL/Chicago, IL/Portland, OR

Duration: 12+ Months contract to hire

About Us

We're committed to delivering exceptional experiences to our customers through our Ecommerce App. As an Android Quality Engineer, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our native Android components and experiences. From navigation features to user interfaces.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain native Android automation tests that validate key functionalities within the Ecommerce App.
    • This includes navigation and informational features that guide and inform our customers.
    • You'll also empower customers by ensuring seamless selection of grocery preferences (delivery or pickup).
  • Collaborate with our software team to test new and existing native components and experiences during sprint and release events.
  • Write clean, maintainable code for automation scripts, test cases, and release processes.
  • Build and maintain the automation suite for the Android platform, closely monitoring the build pipeline to ensure optimal test performance.
  • Provide manual testing support on the Android platform when required.
  • Offer subject matter expertise during new feature planning and development.
    • Document how-to instructions, setup guides, and reports for shareholder and partner teams.
  • Investigate root causes of defects and document repeatable steps for reproduction.
  • Champion effective communication practices by collaborating with Product, Design, Development, and other QA teams.


Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in software development and testing, with a focus on the Android platform.
  • Strong proficiency in Android application development using Java or Kotlin.
  • Hands-on experience with Android testing frameworks, including Espresso, UI Automator, and Appium.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and delivery pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCI, GitHub).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Accessibility and Security:
    • Testing apps for accessibility and ensuring they are secure from vulnerabilities.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to translate requirements, wireframes, and mock-ups into test cases executed in the automation platform.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, detail-oriented, and comfortable working both independently and within a team.
