This role supports mission-critical systems and services that manage the storage, transformation, and dissemination of GEOINT across enterprise environments and multiple security domains. The ideal candidate will combine advanced database engineering capabilities with modern development practices to optimize performance, ensure data integrity, and automate operational workflows. This is a highly visible, technical leadership position requiring collaboration with data scientists, software developers, and mission stakeholders to architect, implement, and enhance enterprise data platforms and geospatial applications.

For U.S. Positions: While subject to change based on business needs, Leidos reasonably anticipates that this job requisition will remain open for at least 3 days with an anticipated close date of no earlier than 3 days after the original posting date as listed above.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $126,100.00 - $227,950.00
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize enterprise-scale relational and geospatial databases for mission systems.
- Engineer robust ETL pipelines and automated data workflows to support ingest, transformation, and delivery of geospatial data.
- Develop tools and services (APIs, scripts, libraries) to facilitate secure, accurate, and performant data access across internal platforms.
- Integrate geospatial capabilities such as Oracle Spatial, PostGIS, or Esri ArcSDE into application workflows.
- Maintain and improve codebases supporting data ingestion, validation, search indexing, and metadata association.
- Refactor legacy data systems and implement modern architectures that promote scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Support CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps practices, and database versioning for continuous integration and secure deployment.
- Troubleshoot database performance issues and data integrity concerns across multi-domain environments (e.g., NIPR, SIPR, JWICS).
- Document schemas, interfaces, and data standards to support operational readiness, training, and system audits.
- Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to prioritize work, define requirements, and deliver on project milestones.
Basic Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, GIS, or a related technical field or a 10+ years of experience and a Masters Degree.
- 7+ years of experience in database development and administration, including stored procedures, schema design, indexing, and performance tuning.
- TS/SCI required with ability to obtain a CI Poly. Will consider upgrading a Secret clearance, but must have the TS/SCI to start.
- Proficiency in SQL (Oracle, PostgreSQL/PostGIS) and software languages such as Python or Java.
- Demonstrated experience integrating geospatial data or working with spatial databases.
- Strong background in ETL processes, scripting, and workflow automation.
- Experience working in DevSecOps environments with tools like Git, Jenkins, Docker, or Kubernetes.
- Ability to engage across multiple offices, ensuring database alignment with GEOINT product requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex software and database issues.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable speaking in front of customers and stakeholders, ensuring clarity and transparency in all communications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting U.S. Government or DoD geospatial programs.
- Familiarity with standards such as O FGDC metadata, and GeoPackage.
- Knowledge of ArcGIS, QGIS, GDAL, or other GIS libraries and tools.
- Understanding of cross-domain data workflows and security boundary controls.
- Exposure to cloud-native database services (e.g., AWS RDS or S3-based data lakes).
- Relevant certifications (Oracle, AWS, Sec+, SAFe).
