Overview

The Digital Platform Architect is a hands-on, technically skilled leader responsible for designing and overseeing the development of foundational technology infrastructure that supports software applications and services. This role emphasizes simplicity, scalability, and performance, and involves both strategic planning and hands-on development, including early Proof of Concepts (POCs) and architectural runway planning.
This is a hybrid role based in Chicago, IL, with minimal travel required.

DTop Skills

1. Strong technical background in digital/web architecture (eCommerce experience is a plus)
2. Proficiency in JavaScript frameworks (NestJS, Next.js), CMS platforms (Contentful or Adobe), and Kafka
3. Ability to design and build systems from scratch and enhance existing platforms
4. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with business stakeholders

eKey Responsibilities

• Architecture Design: Develop scalable, reliable, and efficient system architectures to support enterprise data and application needs.
• Data Pipeline Management: Design and maintain high-performance data pipelines optimized for scalability and reliability.
• System Integration: Enable seamless integration of data across various platforms, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
• Analytics Infrastructure: Build infrastructure to support advanced analytics and business intelligence.
• Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve system bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
• Governance & Security: Implement data governance frameworks and ensure compliance with data security standards.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with IT, data science, and business teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Proof of Concept Development: Lead hands-on development of POCs, including initial integrations and framework evaluations.

sQualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field
• 7+ years of experience as a developer or platform architect in agile environments

Required Skills

• Proven experience in designing and implementing data architectures
• Expertise in Apache Kafka, API management, and data processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark)
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes/AKS)
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD) and infrastructure as code (Terraform)
• Deep understanding of MACH architecture (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless)
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Preferred Skills

• Certifications in data architecture, cloud platforms, or data engineering
• Experience with data streaming and producer/consumer patterns
• Knowledge of data governance and compliance standards
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and participation in Agile ceremonies

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $170000.00/yr.
