General Summary:
The Data Business Analyst serves as a critical liaison between the Scrum team and business stakeholders, ensuring alignment and clarity around business requirements. This role is responsible for eliciting, defining, and documenting requirements, including the development of clear acceptance criteria.
Additionally, the analyst may conduct data profiling, analysis, and mapping for tasks ranging from simple to moderately complex. This position involves performing moderately complex data analysis, preparation, and visualization. Leveraging both technical and domain expertise, the analyst translates data into actionable insights that empower teams and leadership to make informed decisions. The role requires minimal supervision and demonstrates proficiency with relevant tools and technologies within the data domain.
The ideal candidate is a creative and analytical thinker with a strong passion for data. They will collaborate closely with Principal Business Analysts, Product Owners, Delivery Leads, Data Engineers, and business units to gather and validate requirements. Active participation in work estimation and delivery planning is also expected.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$80,630.00-$165,500.00

Job Specifications:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred, and/or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience with demonstrated success at the Associate level in Data Analysis or equivalent experience, and working as part of an Agile team
- Takes an innovative approach to problem-solving
- Strong written communication skills to document and communicate requirements
- Knowledge of SQL
- Understanding of data profiling and analysis concepts, including data anomalies and data mapping activities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks by paying close attention to detail
- Ability to embrace change, adapt to the unexpected, and focus energies, people, and solutions on practical and positive results
- Strong team player; able to work effectively within a team and more broadly with people from a variety of backgrounds and areas across the organization.
- Self-motivated and results-oriented
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders across business and technical teams (e.g., architects, developers, UX, engineers) to define and refine user stories and requirements with clear acceptance criteria.
- Translate business objectives into user stories, workflows, and data-driven features that support modernization efforts and the consolidation of legacy applications.
- Lead backlog grooming and decomposition, ensuring alignment with enterprise quality standards, planning horizons, and data integrity across tools.
- Elicit and document business requirements through interviews, workshops, workflow analysis, and systems documentation
- Participate in and support Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, planning, retrospectives, and test activities.
- Serve as a change agent by identifying, evaluating, and implementing process improvements and innovations that reduce waste and increase delivery efficiency.
- Conduct data profiling and analysis to evaluate data sources to determine the best source for business information.
- Complete source to target data mapping specifications (e.g. source to target can be from one DBMS table to another DBMS table, from a DBMS table into a canonical message structure, etc.)
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the insurance industry.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of data stored in company databases.
- Adhere to approved architectural standards.
- Thinks with the mind of the end customer at all times, ensuring solutions seek to improve the customer experience and delight their customers.
