We are seeking an experienced and outstanding SQL Server DBA with AWS cloud Migration for one of our esteemed clients.

Job Title: Sr. SQL Server DBA with AWS cloud Migration

Type of hire: 6+ Months

Location: Houston, TX (Remote)

Description:

  • We have an urgent need to find a SQL Server DBA that has done migrations of on prime databases to the AWS cloud. This is 100% remote and we need them to start ASAP. Need a Sr. Level Resource. That can speak to the client on weekly stand ups..
  • Lead end-to-end SQL Server migrations from on-premises and third-party hosted environments to AWS, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
  • Assess current infrastructure, security, and performance of legacy systems and define the best-fit cloud architecture on Amazon RDS, EC2-hosted SQL Server, or Amazon Aurora.
  • Design and implement robust networking configurations (e.g., VPCs, VPNs, Direct Connect, firewall rules, security groups) to ensure secure and efficient connectivity between source environments and AWS.
  • Plan and execute full load and Change Data Capture (CDC) migration strategies using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).
  • Perform pre-migration assessments, schema conversions, performance tuning, and post-migration validation.
  • Optimize SQL Server instances for performance, storage, and high availability in AWS.
  • Automate routine database tasks and migration workflows using T-SQL, PowerShell, AWS CLI, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize migration performance using CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and native SQL Server tools.
  • AWS Certified Database Specialty, Solutions Architect Associate/Professional (preferred)
