Overview
GovCIO is seeking a highly experienced Network Architect/Engineer SME with advanced IT systems engineering expertise to support AETC A6/XP AWAKEN network operations and modernization. This role involves designing, integrating, and securing enterprise network and IT systems in compliance with DoD standards and cybersecurity mandates. The position is onsite at JBSA Randolph AFB, San Antonio, TX.
Responsibilities
The incumbent plays a critical role in supporting AETC/A6XP AWAKEN network operations and modernization initiatives. This position requires advanced expertise in designing, integrating, and securing enterprise network architectures across WAN, LAN, wireless, and cloud environments, ensuring compliance with DoD standards and cybersecurity mandates. The incumbent will lead efforts to implement cutting-edge technologies such as SD-WAN, SD-Access, and network automation while maintaining robust security through frameworks like RMF and DISA STIGs. Acting as a trusted advisor, the role involves collaborating with senior leadership, contractor teams, and mission stakeholders to deliver resilient, high-performance network solutions that enable state of the art military training and warfighter readiness.

Posted Pay Range

- Must be a self-starter, abstract thinker, and manage multiple stakeholder expectations/requirements.
- Implement advanced network architecture principles across WAN, LAN, wireless, and cellular domains, ensuring alignment with DoD standards and optimized performance
- Familiarity with DoD RMF, DISA STIGs, and cybersecurity compliance frameworks
- Must be able to leverage industry/DoD best practices of modern network solutions and applications like ISE, QoS, SD-WAN, SD-Access, Cloud Networking, system monitoring solutions, and managed services
- Highly adaptable to mission needs such as troubleshooting connectivity challenges, bandwidth issues and mitigating risks while implementing Wi-Fi/hardwire solutions.
- Demonstrates strong communication skills for consulting with diverse contractor teams senior leadership, and host base stakeholders.
- Provides clear, concise executive-level reporting and presentations using metrics-driven insights.
- Utilizes advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based collaboration tools to support project execution.
- Incumbent is expected to support travel frequency of one week per month (25%)
Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience
Clearance Required: Secret
- 10+ years experience leveraging industry/DoD best practices of modern network solutions.
- 10+ years experience with windows based system/domain engineering and operations
- 4+ years project management experience
- DoD DCWF 8140 IAT II certification
- Must be able to support travel frequency of one week per month (25%)
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Deep expertise in network architecture design and modernization strategies that align with AETC organizational goals.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies to manage complex network architecture initiatives effectively.
- Familiarity with hardware/software procurement and IT life cycle management
- Significant experience with network technologies such as Aruba and Cisco
- Desirable certifications - CCNP, CISSP, PMP
