Network Engineer
The Network Engineer will be accountable for the evaluation, design, and day-to-day operations of the enterprise network infrastructure. This is a hands-on role, responsible for assessing complex network requirements and delivering efficient, reliable solutions through design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance.
The company is located in Herndon, VA and will be a hybrid model of 3 days onsite a week.

The Network Engineer will be accountable for the evaluation, design, and day-to-day operations of the enterprise network infrastructure. This is a hands-on role, responsible for assessing complex network requirements and delivering efficient, reliable solutions through design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance.

What You Will Be Doing:
- Develop, implement, and document processes for network infrastructure, including:
- Performance monitoring
- Troubleshooting and helpdesk response
- Capacity planning (utilization, availability, growth trends)
- Network design, configuration, and standards
- 24/7 support, escalation, and SLA models
- IMAC (installation, move, add, change) services for network components
- Change management methodology and communication strategy
- Diagnose and resolve incidents; perform corrective actions and root cause analysis.
- Oversee the configuration, testing, installation, modification, and maintenance of all network communication components (switches, routers, circuits, wireless, VoIP, etc.).
- Prioritize and organize work requests based on departmental needs and system criticality.
- Manage vendor relationships for evaluation, installation, upgrades, repairs, and preventive maintenance of network infrastructure components.
- Serve as a Network Subject Matter Expert (SME) and advisor to teams such as Endpoint Management, Cybersecurity, Enterprise Architecture, and Systems Administration.
- Lead and conduct system analysis and design, developing detailed requirements for new network infrastructure solutions.
- Maintain accountability for end-user satisfaction.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, IT, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of IT experience, with at least 4 years in networking/telecom within a fast-paced environment.
- Hands-on experience with routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, wireless, VPN, and other network hardware.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and related networking protocols.
- Familiarity with telephony, desktop operating systems, and server environments.
- Proven organizational skills and experience in similar roles.
- Advanced expertise in designing and implementing secure network architectures, standards, and practices.
- Experience with firewalls, IDS, and 24/7 network monitoring.
- Strong background in enterprise and data center security policy design and deployment.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work independently in high-pressure environments.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated leadership with experience managing a technical team of 4+ members.
