Principal Software Engineer - Software Systems Engineering Manager

You will be using your skills and expertise to define, design, develop, test, certify and improve cutting-edge software products. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You'll perform coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting of systems and software throughout our development process. Your technical duties involve the design and development of new software products throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

• Provide deep technical software understanding and effective people management
• Own the software architecture and baseline for distributed Joint All Domain Command and Control mission systems or autonomous systems
• Lead a group of software developers. Role includes line manager who does performance goal setting and evaluation, skills mentoring / professional skills training, and career development for SW staff
• Lead software engineering proposals where you will perform task definition and estimating work to accomplish those tasks
• Develop and drive software product roadmap ensuring viability and customer goals are met

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Bachelor's of Science degree Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related discipline and typically 14 or more years of relevant experience
• Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
• Advanced capabilities using Computer Aided Engineering tools
• Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams
• 3 years of technical leadership experience with 2 of direct people management
• 8 years of working within a software engineering team
• 2 years of software architecture and system design experience
• Knowledge of software engineering principals, practices, and processes including software life cycle, DevOps, configuration management, testing, hardware integration, cyber security
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI U.S. security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Experience in growing technical teams
• Expertise of software languages such as C#, C++, Java, Python
• Experience with DoD-focused open architecture specifications like OMS
• Experience with Command and Control Mission Systems or Autonomous aircraft systems
• Masters Degree in Computer Science

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $165,010.21 - $226,889.04. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
