We are looking for AS400 Lead for our client in Issaquah, WA / Dallas, TX
Job Title: AS400 Lead

Job Type: Contract
Job Description:
Pay Range: $55hr - $60hr

Responsibilities:

  • Lead development of iSeries code supporting retail applications.
  • Lead architectural design discussions and drive engineering best practices to deliver high-quality and scalable solutions.
  • Develop high-quality, efficient, and fault-tolerant software.
  • Participate in developing and documenting department standards and best practices, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Adhere to divisional standards for all code development and deployment activities.
  • Identify deficiencies within product/application codebases and recommend improvements to overall code quality.
  • Perform peer code reviews for software changes made by other engineers.
  • Collaborate with Systems Architects, Systems Analysts, and team members to define project specifications and release documentation across all phases of the development cycle.
  • Analyze and develop iSeries code supporting enterprise retail and supply chain applications.
  • Create functional specifications using standard practices, processes, and procedures.
  • Perform code reviews and unit testing; coordinate with team members on development and QA tasks.
  • Adhere to IT division development standards, deployment processes, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Product Owner, business areas, team members, and QA to ensure requirements are clearly defined, understood, and documented.
  • Participate in development estimation, deployment, and release planning to ensure timely delivery of solutions.
  • Deliver artifacts and application solutions on agreed-upon delivery dates.
  • Own second-level support resolution for daily incident tickets and create knowledge-base articles for first-level support.
  • Continue personal growth in technology, business knowledge, and internal policies.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance at the assigned workplace.
Requirement/Must Have:
  • 5 years of functional and technical design experience.
  • 7+ years of programming experience with RPGLE, SQL, and CL on iSeries (AS/400).
  • Experience with iSeries DB2/400, Turnover, and X Analysis.
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining real-time, large-scale business applications.
  • Ability to collaborate with technical experts and develop solution/functional design documents.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle methodologies.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple requests.
  • Ability to support off-hours work including weekends, holidays, and 24/7 on-call responsibilities on a rotational basis.
Nice to Have:
  • Familiarity with SAP Master Data and MDG application capabilities and integration.
  • Familiarity with integration tools such as IBM WebSphere Broker and IBM ACS.
  • Good understanding of Agile development practices and methodologies.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace tools (Sheets, Docs, Slides, Gmail).
  • Understanding of API development with emphasis on security and performance.
Skills:
  • Strong iSeries/AS400 development skills.
  • Strong SQL and DB2/400 skills.
  • Strong debugging and code-review capabilities.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of large-scale retail or supply-chain systems.
Qualification And Education:
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience supporting iSeries development and enterprise systems.
