Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of Practicing Agile Scrum Master experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
- Experience moving teams and organizations from Waterfall to Agile methodologies and Agile Transformations
- Agile Scrum (CSM), SAFE certifications or other advanced Agile certifications
- Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships.
- Knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
- Prior successful work leading scrum teams in a matrixed environment
- Experience serving as a Scrum Master for multiple teams simultaneously.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitate the scrum process with cross functional impact that involve moderately complex projects, non-projects, or maintenance work.
- Guide the scrum teams to follow Agile and Scrum practices to actively promote prioritization, team readiness, and commitment for each Sprint.
- Optimize scrum team velocity to identify improvement opportunities to achieve higher levels of team performance.
- Deliver capabilities using agile practices while also following the Software Development Lifecycle, business process mapping, and various release processes as appropriate to ensure all risk, security, and development requirements are met.
- Partner with discipline managers about governance policies and adherence to corporate standards
- Facilitate the Scrum Agile ceremonies for the teams.
- Collaborate with product owners, program, or project managers to communicate delivery of work product from the team and escalate key risks and issues impeding scrum team effectiveness.
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals.
- Interact with internal customers.
- Receive direction from leaders and exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Support Agile delivery that provides business value and delivers quality results ensuring alignment and adherence to the customers Agile practices, managing capacity and mitigating risk.
- Responsible for ensuring the team(s) are following our customers Agile standard practices and leveraging standard Agile tools appropriately.
- Perform and share regular Agile team health checks and enable the team to incorporate targets into continuous improvement goals. (Examples of measurable goals: Predictability, Velocity, Cycle time, burn up/burn down charts, retrospectives etc.)
- Ensure active engagement and appropriate inputs/outputs for all applicable planning & execution events. (Examples of measurable goals: consistency in events, defining escalation paths, number of sprints planned, increment plans, etc.)
- Act as a change agent who is resilient and demonstrates personal agility. Champion and positively influence the adoption of Agile practices leveraging the Agile Playbook and standard learning materials and templates.
- Protect the team from distractions and support the resolution of their impediments so they can focus on their commitments and maximize the benefit of the team's performance potential.
- Manage through impediments by identifying and leveraging appropriate escalation paths and encouraging the team to look for alternative solutions while delivering expected results. (Examples of measurable goals: team formation and composition, dedication and maturity, lead time, cycle time, reduced defects, etc.)
- Effectively lead Agile events to gain and share business knowledge, achieve Agile delivery success, and influence outcomes. (Examples of measurable goals: stakeholder satisfaction, team satisfaction, business value measurement, etc.)
- Works with Product Owner to communicate delivery of work product from the scrum team and escalates key risks and issues impeding scrum team effectiveness. (Examples of measurable goals: daily standup process and effectiveness.
- Ensure the flow of work is systemically managed to deliver value effectively and efficiently, including partnering with Product Owner to ensure a healthy backlog.
- Partner with product owner to ensure work is prioritized based on maximizing value for the customer (Examples of measurable goals: defined KPIs/OKRs, business value measurements, etc.)
- Continuous learning and connection to the Agile community and demonstrate continuous learning to stay informed of industry trends and best practices; identifying opportunities to share new learnings with the team to facilitate better understanding of Agile concepts and values.
- Invest in self by remaining current on Agile practices, scaling frameworks, and coaching techniques.
- Maintain and grow your Agile network both internal and external to the customer by attending and/or lead forums and other professional events.
