Job Summary:
The Senior Systems Engineer is a seasoned engineering professional responsible for leading the definition, development, and integration of complex systems in a regulated, technology-driven environment. This individual plays a critical role in translating customer needs and regulatory requirements into actionable system-level solutions and product architectures. Working with minimal supervision, the Senior Systems Engineer collaborates across disciplines, drives technical execution, and contributes to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Lead and contribute to all phases of systems engineering, including requirements analysis, architecture development, integration, verification/validation, and sustainment.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory frameworks, including ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-178, DO-254, and DO-160.
- Perform hazard analyses, system safety evaluations, and participate in certification and compliance-related activities.
- Work collaboratively across engineering, quality, operations, and business teams to meet product performance, safety, and cost targets.
- Utilize DOORS for requirements management and Simulink for system modeling and simulation.
- Translate stakeholder needs into clear, verifiable system requirements and ensure effective flow-down to functional teams.
- Produce technical documentation, including proposals, reports, safety assessments, design reviews, and regulatory submissions.
- Plan and manage technical efforts within budget and schedule constraints.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering technical excellence and leadership across the team.
- Participate in and support system-level design reviews, audits, and technical risk assessments.
- Contribute to and support the adoption of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices where applicable.
- Identify and implement continuous process improvements and best practices in system development.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in systems engineering, preferably within the aerospace industry. Bachelor s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Hands-on experience with ARP4754 and ARP4761 system development and safety assessment processes.
- Familiarity with DO-178 (software), DO-254 (hardware), and DO-160 (environmental testing).
- Proven experience with safety-critical systems, hazard analysis, and process improvements.
- Proficiency with IBM DOORS and Simulink or similar tools
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies.
- Experience with Bluetooth or wireless communication system design.
