Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

SAIC is seeking a long-haul fiber Telecommunications Engineer in Aurora, CO area to support a government customer. The successful candidate will support an array of high-speed engineering design and implementation efforts, as well as program office support on behalf of this customer. Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance with current polygraph is required to start and must be maintained. Targeted salary is $150,0001- $160,000.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

The successful candidate must be able to:
  • Provide strategic systems engineering support to ensure the delivery of bandwidth for a service infrastructure architecture.
  • Define circuit specifications and employ test methodology industry best practices to ensure a satisfactory delivery of Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Layer 1 and 2 transport solutions.
  • Perform as a technical representative with internal and external customers.
  • Support design reviews, to include development of technical analysis of alternatives to meet customer needs.
  • Conduct technical risk assessments of proposed and deployed architectures in search of mitigations that will minimize the risk of service outages.
  • Perform requirements analysis, schedule review, and cost estimation for long-haul bandwidth service requests.
  • Develop and deliver formal updates to network designs that describe, and capture proposed/approved architectural changes.
  • Provide technical support for reviews of third-party vendor proposals.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelors in a STEM related field and nine (9) years or more years relevant experience; Masters in a STEM related field and seven (7) years or more years of relevant experience.
  • Six (6) plus years experiences working Tier 3 anomaly resolution.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of test methodologies, verification/troubleshooting of telecommunications circuits.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Optical Line System (OTN, OC-192, 10/100/400GE) circuits.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of MEF 2.0 Carrier Ethernet (E-LINE, EVC) circuits.
  • Demonstrated ability to work multiple efforts concurrently with shifting priorities.

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
