Job Title: Data Architect / Data Modeler
Location: Newark, NJ (Hybrid 2-3 days onsite)
Job Type: W2 Only Long-Term Contract

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Architect / Data Modeler to join our client's data engineering team in Newark, NJ. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data modeling, data architecture, and deep expertise in Azure cloud and Microsoft Fabric environments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement logical and physical data models across enterprise data platforms.

  • Translate business requirements into scalable data architecture solutions supporting analytics, BI, and data integration.

  • Drive the data strategy and architecture roadmap in alignment with enterprise data governance standards.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, and solution architects to optimize data flows and structure.

  • Leverage Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric to design cloud-native data platforms and pipelines.

  • Define and enforce data modeling standards and best practices (e.g., normalization, denormalization, slowly changing dimensions, etc.).

  • Provide guidance on data warehouse and data lake design and development.

  • Work in Agile/Scrum teams and contribute to data modernization initiatives.


Required Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Modeling, and Data Warehousing.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Services (ADF, Synapse, Data Lake, etc.).

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric is highly preferred.

  • Expertise in dimensional and relational data modeling using tools like Erwin, ER/Studio, or equivalent.

  • Solid understanding of data integration, metadata management, and data lineage.

  • Experience working in hybrid cloud environments and developing enterprise-wide data platforms.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex data concepts to business stakeholders.
