Job Posting Title: TECHNICAL WRITER 3

Pay rate-up to $75/h on W2

Location: Sunnyvale, CA (Prefers Onsite, but hybrid min. of 3 days a week is okay)

As a member of the Services organization, the Senior Technical Writer ensures that development, delivery, and maintenance of technical Field Service documentation is consistent and compliant with product support needs and company guidelines. The Senior Technical Writer produces accurate, clearly presented, consistent documentation on time for product releases, and requires no day-to-day instruction or general instruction for new assignments. The Senior Technical writer should be highly skilled in the development and maintenance of technical documentation.

This is an on-campus contract position with both office and laboratory working environments.

Roles and Responsibilities

Plans, writes, edits, and maintains Field Service documentation (i.e., Field Service procedures and technical bulletins) for medical device systems.

Complete documentation control steps to release final documentation. This includes Change Orders in the documentation control system.

Informs and adheres to policies, procedures, and quality documents. Collaborates with project team members to share knowledge and best practices.

Uses skills as an experienced technical communication professional with understanding of industry best practices and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.

Evaluates, recommends, or develops documentation process and productivity aids. Assist with development of internal writing style guide.

Skill/Job Requirements

Minimum 12 years technical writing experience in a hardware or engineering environment, including documentation for various technical audiences.

Bachelor's degree in engineering sciences, professional writing, or equivalent preferred.

Strong writing and grammar skills in areas of content development by using minimalist, topic-based writing style. Analytical ability to swiftly grasp and effectively communicate complex scientific and engineering concepts for intended audiences.

Strong organizational and project-management skills with ability to participate in project discussions and manage deliverables for multiple projects under tight deadlines, set priorities, and manage time effectively.

Understanding of mechanical/hardware concepts and complex devices.

Previous experience with medical devices preferred.

Experience with DITA XML authoring tools. PTC Arbortext Editor or IXIASOFT CCMS highly desired.

Experience with current versions of standard authoring tools, including Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop; and Microsoft Excel and Word.
