Description

We are looking for a skilled Systems Engineer to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This position focuses on enhancing and securing core server services while supporting infrastructure initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring extensive expertise in Windows Server administration and Active Directory hardening to ensure system reliability and optimal performance.

Responsibilities:
Configure and validate a secure Active Directory setup, including sites and services, replication health, and Group Policy optimization.
Implement auditing and alerting solutions for directory services using native tools and third-party systems.
Deploy and fine-tune logging mechanisms, such as LogRhythm, to ensure reliable data collection and forwarding from essential servers.
Establish privilege management practices, including Just-In-Time and Just-Enough administration, while reviewing and managing privileged groups.
Support server patching, baseline creation, recovery documentation, and the development of server build templates.
Create and maintain checklists and evidence for hardened Active Directory configurations.
Develop runbooks, dashboards, and guidelines for audit and alerting systems.
Provide implementation plans and documentation for logging tools and privileged access management solutions.
Ensure knowledge transfer and training for the server team to maintain operational readiness.
Collaborate with leadership to align project deliverables with organizational goals.

Requirements

A minimum of 7 years of experience in Windows Server and Active Directory administration, including incident recovery or greenfield deployments.
Hands-on experience with Active Directory hardening, tiering, and privileged access management concepts.
Proficiency in deploying and optimizing LogRhythm or similar SIEM tools for Windows infrastructure.
Strong skills in PowerShell scripting and comprehensive documentation practices.
Familiarity with Azure Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange.
Proven ability to design and implement secure server configurations.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
