Pratt & Whitney's Puerto Rico Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) seeking a goal oriented, detail-focus Structures Engineer to work on existing and next generation of commercial and military gas turbine engines. Engineer would provide analytical support for repair development and substantiation. Possible opportunities include Military and Commercial Airfoils, Rotors and Static Hardware. Structures Engineer will apply scientific principles to analyze, innovate, design, develop, and implement technologies, components, sub-systems, machines, tools, and systems to ensure compliance to specifications, requirements, and customer guarantees across applicable operating conditions. Ensures novel ideas and implementations are captured and protected using applicable IP processes and tools

What You Will Do
- Provide structural support to military or commercial engine components through all Product Development Phases.
- Perform state-of-the-art ANSYS finite element analysis for stress, vibration, mission low cycle fatigue life, residual life (fracture mechanics) prediction, and optimization; stress testing and data reduction; production and in-service field investigations.
- Participate on multi-discipline integrated product teams as the structures focal, providing design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost and weight
- Coordinate with others new ways to advance technology and improve processes as an individual and as a team contributor. Embrace a continuous improvement philosophy
- Document and present results to management and external customers.
- Support quality initiatives for continuous improvement using Costumer Oriented Results and Excellence operating system (CORE) tools and support AS9100 efforts.
- English (read, write, speak) is required when communicating with customers, co-workers, or supervisors who only speak English
Qualifications You Must Have
- Enrolled in a degree program in Mechanical, Civil, Structural and Aerospace Engineering
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
Qualifications We Prefer
- Strong mechanical aptitude to understand the interactions of complex assemblies and how to translate those interactions into sound analytical assumptions.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills
- Team oriented and cultural awareness
- Knowledge of software and programing languages. ANSYS, Workbench, ABAQUS, PATRAN / NASTRAN, APDL, MATLAB, VBA, Python, C++, Fortran, MS Office, NX Teamcenter and SAP
- The ability to craft clear communication and build positive relationships.
