Windows Servicing and Delivery (WSD) team provides high quality services and experiences to keep Microsoft customers secure and productive by constantly building and delivering updates to all versions of the Windows operating system for consumer and enterprise customers.
Windows Authentication team owns the authentication and authorization stack across windows client and server platforms. This team heavily works on fixing critical security vulnerabilities and shipping enhancements in authentication protocol stack including Windows KDC, keeping windows customers secure and meeting the evolving demand of security space.
Candidates should have a strong background in software development and system design. Additionally, experience with authentication protocols, security principles, and performance optimization would be highly advantageous for this role. Responsibilities
The role of a Software Development Engineer II (SDE 2) on the Windows Authentication team is a critical one, involving a blend of technical expertise and problem-solving skills. The primary responsibilities include:
Debugging complex Windows issues and root causing the problems
Developing robust fixes and writing code to test fixes
Conducting thorough testing to ensure the highest quality of security features and updates
Working on customer incidents and finding mitigations/solutions to real-world problems

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of strong background in software development and system design.
- 2+ years of strong problem solving design, implementation, and communication skills.
- Dedication to writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code with a focus on application quality, performance, scalability and security.
- Experience with authentication protocols, security principles, and performance optimization would be highly advantageous for this role.
- Experience with windows debugging or C/C++.
