Job Details
Position Title: Hardware Technician
Locations: New Albany, OH
Duration: 6 Months
Shift timings: 6 AM to 6 PM
Back half: Wednesday or Thursday through Saturday.
Pay Rate: $20 23/hr
Job Description:
- IT background, preferably hands-on hardware experience.
- Experience with ticket systems and queue management.
- Ability to quickly understand and work with tickets.
- Hardware-related skills are key.
- Newer campuses moving towards machine learning and liquid cooling.
- Campus 1 and 2 (where Joshua is located) still have legacy systems.
- Need candidates with foundational knowledge in hardware and IT troubleshooting.
- Ticket-driven work.
- Parts cage is the closest thing to an assembly-style procedure.
Ticket Handling Stages:
- Simple tasks: Hardware swaps (RAM, network cards).
- Scan asset, scan new asset, swap.
- Automation helps identify the problem.
- More complex tasks: CPU, motherboard swaps, media type tickets.
- Most difficult: Networking issues (fiber troubleshooting).
- Requires critical thinking and a higher skill cap.
- Loopback testing.
- Progression: Master each set of tickets, then move on, shadow peers.
Systems and Technologies:
- Ticketing system: TCorp or SimT (Amazon-specific).
- Similar to other ticketing systems (first-in, first-out, business priority).
- Fulfillment side uses ServiceNow.
Soft Skills and Traits:
- Self-starter (due to the feedback dynamic with green badgers).
- Good team communication.
- Not afraid to ask questions.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
