We are seeking a highly disciplined Field Operations Tester to execute functional Quality Control (QC) and validation of mission-critical onboard technology systems for a leading transportation client. This role is a hands-on, field-based assignment requiring the individual to ride trains frequently, sometimes outside of normal business hours, to perform rigorous testing in a live, dynamic environment. The specialist will play a vital role in ensuring system reliability and safety by adhering to strict testing protocols, coordinating team efforts, and maintaining meticulous documentation of test cases, results, and defect traceability. This position demands a strong technical foundation, exceptional punctuality, and the ability to travel extensively, primarily along the Northeast Corridor, with additional testing required for the Pacific Northwest.

- Execute Functional Testing: Perform rigorous, hands-on functional testing of onboard technology systems (e.g., communications, monitoring, diagnostics) aboard operating trains in the field.
- Travel & Field Work: Frequently ride trains on the Northeast Corridor (NEC) with required residency in the Philadelphia, Wilmington, or Washington, D.C. area, and be prepared for travel and testing on the Pacific Northwest (Cascades) route.
- Coordinate Testing Efforts: Organize and direct the participation and schedules of other test resources to ensure comprehensive and timely test coverage.
- Documentation and Traceability: Clearly and consistently document test cases, detailed execution results, and defect outcomes, ensuring full traceability back to specific system requirements.
- Defect Management: Identify, log, and accurately trace defects and deviations, communicating findings effectively with cross-functional development, engineering, and management teams.
- Protocol Adherence: Maintain strong discipline in following structured testing protocols and schedules, even during travel that may occur outside of standard business hours or with short notice.
- Communication: Serve as an effective and professional communicator, both verbally and in writing, when coordinating field logistics and reporting technical findings.

Proven experience in functional testing, Quality Assurance (QA), or Quality Control (QC) practices, with a strong understanding of technology systems.
Ability and willingness to be onsite 3-4 days per week for testing activities. Offboard work (e.g., report writing) can be performed remotely.
Commute Expectation: While the residency requirement includes D.C. and Wilmington alternatives, candidates must be prepared to frequently commute to the Penn Coach Yard in Philadelphia (3-4 days weekly). Candidates not based in Philadelphia will be responsible for the time and cost associated with this regular travel.
