Description

We are seeking a high-performing Staff Hardware Engineer, Silicon Performance Analysis interested in leading the performance analysis, modeling, and simulation for SoC's (System-on-a-Chip) across the enterprise. This individual will need to have strong technical knowledge and problem solving skills to develop models and analyze advanced SoC's. They will be depended on to stay up to date with industry technology and trends allowing for continuous improvement in SoC performance analysis, build strong partnerships with internal and external team members and lead SoC silicon analysis and definition to enable the next generation of GM's software defined vehicle.

The selected individual will be expected to provide thought and team leadership, foster innovation, facilitate communication, and inspire passion. In addition, it is expected they will exhibit strong leadership behaviors, actively champion change, demonstrate high level of intuition for business, strategically focus on addressing systemic issues, possess a high level of learning agility, ability to deal with ambiguity and complexity, tendency to expand the boundaries of innovation and not accept status quo.

Responsibilities

  • Develop performance and design written specifications for SoC silicon & subsystems, enabling on-time sourcing and execution in accordance with electronics development and vehicle program timing requirements.
  • Coordinate internally and externally to gain a thorough understanding of an SoC to identify performance bottlenecks, metrics, benchmarks, measurement tools, optimization resources and identify improvement metrics.
  • Build partnerships and work closely with functional peers across Product, Architecture, Electronics Hardware and Software Engineering, Purchasing and External Suppliers to implement SoC performance and modeling strategic objectives.
  • Influence market semiconductor product portfolios, silicon design, supply chain and technology roadmaps.
  • Develop methodologies and technologies to model System-on-Chip (SoC) performance across various accuracy levels, facilitating architectural explorations and informed decision-making.
  • Conduct pre-silicon performance simulations and align them with post-silicon measurements for correlation.
  • Determine and or develop the most suitable workloads and benchmarks for performance analysis, spearheading their execution across simulation platforms to determine design performance.
  • Provide people leadership and technical coaching for the semiconductor engineering teams during the design, simulation, analysis, application selection, technical reviews, and sourcing phases.

Qualifications - Required

  • BS in Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering/Computer Science or similar field
  • 8+ years of engineering experience in SoC performance analysis and modeling
  • Strong experience with formal verification techniques, tools and processes used to model and analyze SoC performance
  • Strong knowledge of SoC and CPU architecture and design
  • Experience with custom tool development for SoC performance analysis and evaluation
  • Experience in workload and benchmark selection, analysis, and development
  • Programming experience in languages such as C, C++, or Python
  • Proven ability to conduct feasibility studies evaluating performance metrics, design trade-offs and presenting solutions that optimize system performance, power and timing
  • Exceptional collaboration and teamwork skills; demonstrated ability for working across functional and organizational boundaries
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Additional Description

Qualifications - Preferred

  • Strong comprehension of automotive electronics hardware design requirements and software architecture
  • Experience developing complex SoC's from concept to production
  • Master's degree/PhD in Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science

This role is categorized as Hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report onsite three times per week at minimum.

The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant in the California Bay Area which includes the following counties: Marin, Contra Costa, San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz might be paid in accordance with the California law.

The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.

The annual salary range for this role is $ 137,000 - $214,300. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
