This individual will be instrumental in delivering innovative, scalable solutions across a range of scientific instrumentation platforms. The ideal candidate brings over 10 years of experience, a strong technical foundation, and a proven ability to drive complex system-level designs in high-precision environments.
- Lead the architecture, design, and integration of sophisticated electromechanical systems used in scientific instrumentation.
- Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring cohesive and innovative system solutions that meet technical, operational, and business requirements.
- Develop and refine system-level specifications and lead risk-based design strategies from concept through production.
- Apply advanced problem-solving skills to resolve complex challenges in high-precision applications, balancing performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Drive the selection and integration of key system components including sensors, actuators, control elements, and embedded hardware/software.
- Conduct detailed system modeling, simulations, and performance trade-offs to validate design integrity and ensure system robustness.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical direction across programs.
- Ensure system designs align with compliance standards, quality systems, and industry regulations.
- Document and communicate design decisions, system architectures, verification strategies, and validation results to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in the design, development, and integration of complex electromechanical systems preferably in the scientific instrumentation, medical device, aerospace, or precision manufacturing industries.
- Demonstrated experience leading system-level design efforts from concept through production launch.
- Deep understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements development, interface definition, validation/verification planning, and risk management.
- Proficiency in control systems, electromechanical integration, and embedded system interactions.
- Experience with simulation, modeling, and analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with product development in a regulated environment (e.g., ISO, FDA, or similar standards).
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive alignment on complex technical challenges.
- Background in optics, vacuum systems, or microfluidic technologies.
- Experience with FMEA/DFMEA and reliability engineering.
- Patent or publication history in systems engineering or instrumentation design.
