ECS is seeking an Innovation Consultant to work in our Metro DC area Hybrid Remote office .

Job Description:

ECS is seeking to hire an Innovation Consultant to join us in supporting Veterans Health Administration's (VHA) Office of Healthcare Innovation and Learning (OHIL). This work is based in Washington, DC, with an option for remote work.

The portfolio of projects, generated through grassroot crowdsourcing initiatives, leadership directives, industry roundtables, and partnerships, requires a team of flexible and competent individuals capable of producing quality deliverables on tight deadlines. The ideal candidate will be an energetic professional to support fast-moving, wide-ranging program and initiative needs.

The candidate should be innovative, strategic, and have a passion for contributing to a high-performing team that supports clients in federal health care administration and management.

A successful Innovation Consultant will support the following activities:
  • Develop and maintain key client relationships with VHA OHIL Staff.
  • Support client directors/managers with high-level, cross-functional focus and assistance.
  • Deliver high quality, senior executive-level deliverables, I.e., reports, briefings.
  • Successfully communicate the status and impact of projects to the broader community.
  • Proactively recognize opportunities for improvement and initiate effective strategies to promote change.
  • Escalate risks and concerns to projects managers.


Salary Range: $75,000-$85,000

Required Skills:
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant discipline.
  • Understanding and proven application of project management best practices such as PMI's PMBOK.
  • Prioritization skills and the ability to remain flexible.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including reports and presentations.
  • Proven experience developing detailed project plans, project budgets, resource plans, and risk management plans.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative, and results-driven environment.
  • Means to build and manage client relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to think strategically to effectively assess and assemble solutions to meet needs.
  • Demonstrated experience crafting diverse forms of written communication, such as white papers, blog articles, newsletters, reports, and social media.
  • Demonstrate collaborative teamwork.
  • Strong consulting and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project).
  • Outstanding writing skills, and experience developing and editing high-quality written materials.


Desired Skills:
  • Advanced Microsoft and Adobe Suite skills.
  • Experience working with innovation programs.
  • Familiarity with Human-Centered Design.
  • Experience working with Veterans Health Administration.
