As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Technology - Corporate Oversight and Governance Technology team, you lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing robust data governance frameworks and controls to ensure the integrity, security, and compliance of our organization's data assets.

Job responsibilities
  • Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives
  • Accountable for decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
  • Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations
  • Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive data governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data.
  • Establishes data quality standards and metrics and implement processes to monitor and improve data quality across the organization.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define data ownership, roles, and responsibilities, and establish data stewardship processes.
  • Designs and implements data classification schemes to classify data based on sensitivity and criticality and enforce appropriate access controls and security measures.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant data privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and other industry-specific regulations.
  • Conducts regular reviews and assessments to identify gaps in data governance and controls and develop action plans to address deficiencies.
  • Partners with the firmwide Data Governance teams on best practices and drive this across the organization.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training, or certification in data governance, data management or related field and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, practices, and frameworks.
  • Experience implementing data governance tools and technologies.
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at senior levels of the organization.
  • Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks associated with data governance and controls.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Master's degree preferred
