Job Description:
Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and is the third largest of Virginia's 23 community colleges. The college is located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. Brightpoint Community College invites highly motivated and qualified applicants to apply to teach in our Engineering program. The successful incumbent's primary responsibility will be teaching first-year and electrical and computer engineering (ECE) lab courses in a face-to-face format. Full-time responsibilities include teaching the equivalent of 12-15 credit hours per semester. The selected incumbent will also participate in course development and program assessment, advise students, assist adjunct faculty in the discipline area, and actively serve on division and college committees. Additional responsibilities include maintaining the ECE lab and student lab kits, as well as developing and overseeing a capstone design project for ECE students.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering or in a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate-level credits in Electrical or Computer Engineering. College level teaching experience and/or relevant work experience. Ability to use instructional technologies. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and oral/written communication skills. The successful candidate must be willing to teach a full-time load of lab classes with extended contact hours. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check are required

General: Willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies. Demonstrated experience in meeting the needs of and providing instruction to diverse populations. Prior community college experience. Demonstrated ability to employ multiple teaching strategies to create student-centered classrooms. Demonstrated ability to write grant applications.
Specific: Masters' Degree or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering. Demonstrated experience developing and teaching ECE classes. Demonstrated experience working with physical lab equipment and application circuits in industry, military, or research. Demonstrated experience with active learning through labs. Knowledge of third- and fourth-year university ECE course content. Proficiency in MATLAB, C++, Inventor or other CAD software, SPICE simulation software, and HDL design environment.
