Job Details
We're seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and optimize software that powers our industrial destruction equipment and future automation initiatives. This role blends PLC programming, embedded development, robotics, and software systems integration.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain PLC code (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent) for shredders, crushers, and related systems.
- Optimize control logic for safety, throughput, and reliability.
- Build efficient firmware and embedded software for industrial controllers and automation platforms.
- Design and maintain APIs to connect machines, automation software, and backend services.
- Automate reporting, telemetry, and integration with operational workflows.
- Prototype robotic arms, conveyors, and material-handling systems for automation.
- Implement motion control algorithms and collaborate with hardware teams for seamless system integration.
- Build simulation environments and testing frameworks for machine logic, safety features, and robotics software.
- Perform hardware-in-the-loop testing and real-time debugging.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 7+ years in embedded software engineering, PLC programming, or industrial automation systems.
- Strong skills in C, C++, and Python for embedded and edge development.
- Experience with PLC platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or others) and ladder logic programming.
- Familiarity with industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC UA, Ethernet/IP, CAN bus).
- Experience developing or integrating APIs and industrial telemetry solutions.
- Raspberry Pi, Linux, or microcontroller programming experience.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with robotics frameworks (ROS, MoveIt) or simulation tools (Gazebo, MATLAB/Simulink).
- Knowledge of machine vision libraries (OpenCV, TensorFlow Lite).
- Familiarity with IoT/edge computing platforms for industrial equipment.
- Exposure to manufacturing or secure data destruction environments.
