One of CEI's largest Retail clients is seeking a Technology Project Manager to join their growing organization!


Client/Industry: Retail / Workforce Technology Modernization
Job Title: Technology Project Manager – Labor Forecasting Software Modernization
Location: Remote (EST hours) | Local candidates preferred (Cincinnati, OH) for occasional onsite meetings
Work Schedule/Shift: Mon-Fri EST business hours | Minimum 40 work hours per week.
Duration/Length of Assignment: 12 Month Long-term contract (potential for extension or contract-to-hire)
Additional Information: High-visibility role with direct impact on organizational workforce systems. Interview process involves one or two rounds with the hiring manager, along with automated prescreening questions and a game assessment.

Position Overview:
This role will lead a large-scale initiative to replace a 20-year-old labor forecasting system with a modernized solution that enhances accuracy, improves granularity, and leverages AI and machine learning to reduce human error in labor estimating and scheduling. The position sits within a technology delivery team that partners closely with business stakeholders, product managers, and engineering resources. The team operates in a cross-functional model, reporting directly to executive leadership and maintaining high levels of visibility across the organization. The selected candidate will oversee the delivery of a new forecasting platform that includes three key solution components: labor standards integrations, labor modeling integrations, and labor forecasting integrations. They will be responsible for guiding the implementation, ensuring that milestones and dependencies are aligned, and maintaining consistent communication with stakeholders at all levels. This role requires strong organizational leadership, collaboration across multiple teams, and adaptability to vendor-driven technology solutions.

Required Skills/Experience/Qualifications:
  • Experience with 3rd party software implementation, particularly within HR systems and labor scheduling technologies
  • Proven expertise in executive-level communication, including reporting, program tracking, and stakeholder management
  • Strong ability to create, maintain, and align project plans across multiple teams and dependencies
  • Demonstrated leadership in technology delivery initiatives involving AI and machine learning solutions
  • Proficiency in documenting issues, risks, and decisions while driving mitigation and escalation strategies
  • Confidence, adaptability, and problem-solving skills with the ability to adjust approaches based on vendor selection
  • Availability to work EST hours with flexibility for occasional onsite travel as required

Preferred Skills (Not Required):
  • Prior experience managing large-scale forecasting or workforce management modernization projects
  • Familiarity with advanced labor modeling methodologies and predictive scheduling tools
  • Background in retail, supply chain, or other industries requiring complex workforce scheduling

Day to Day/Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the technology project manager overseeing the modernization of a labor forecasting platform, replacing a legacy 20-year-old system
  • Lead the end-to-end implementation of a solution that includes labor standards integrations, labor modeling integrations, and labor forecasting integrations
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Managers, Business teams, and Engineering resources to ensure timely and accurate technical delivery
  • Establish, align, and update comprehensive project plans to track dependencies, milestones, and delivery outcomes
  • Provide executive-level reporting to highlight progress, risks, readiness, and overall project health, ensuring stakeholder visibility and engagement
  • Document issues, risks, and decisions, leading the team in developing mitigation strategies and escalation protocols as needed
  • Maintain synergy and alignment across workstreams, encouraging collaboration and consistency in delivery approaches
  • Recommend and implement plan adjustments based on stakeholder input and evolving vendor requirements
  • Utilize program tracking tools to ensure progress transparency and enable leadership to make informed decisions
  • Participate in occasional onsite meetings with vendors and stakeholders depending on location, ensuring seamless communication and integration efforts
