Role: BAS Control Engineer

Location: Remote but candidate need to be in VA.

Duration: 6+ Months

Job Description:

Technical Delivery:

  • Lead the full implementation of BMS/BAS systems, including:
  • Network architecture and topology
  • I/O design and validation
  • Control panel layout and system wiring
  • Field device integration and point mapping
  • Configure and troubleshoot BMS software platforms and graphical user interfaces (GUIs)
  • Oversee site activities such as I/O check-outs, point-to-point verification, functional testing, and system startup
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring schematics, and P&IDs; identify discrepancies and ensure engineering accuracy
  • Specify and integrate HVAC and facility instrumentation (e.g., temperature, pressure, humidity, flow sensors)
  • Perform advanced control logic development and interface with mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ensure all designs and implementations meet internal quality standards and industry best practices
  • Maintain working knowledge of building networks, server/VM environments, and cybersecurity fundamentals for operational technology (OT)

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Controls Engineering-or equivalent technical degree
  • 2 4 years of total experience, including 1 3 years in building automation or control systems
  • Proven track record of delivering integrated BAS/BMS systems within high-performance environments

Technical Skills:

  • Deep understanding of HVAC and mechanical systems as they relate to automation
  • Proficiency in BAS platforms (e.g., Tridium/Niagara, Schneider, Siemens, Johnson Controls, or similar)
  • Experience with field instrumentation, networking, PLCs/PACs, and graphical user interfaces
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities across electrical, mechanical, and software domains
  • Familiarity with industry protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks)
