Job Description
ECS is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to work on customer site in Suffolk, VA in support of various U.S. Government Mission Partner Enclaves within the DoD Community, each with a unique set of data and applications.
The Cloud Engineer will work closely with project and technical teams to swiftly develop and implement solutions in an agile environment, deploy [primarily Azure-based] cloud capabilities, and support operational end users. The Cloud Engineer will also aid in designing, deploying, and maintaining Mission Partner Enclaves' associated virtual infrastructure.
The ideal candidate has advanced technical acumen, strong problem-solving skills, and hands-on experience with cloud networking, platform automation, and infrastructure development supporting these technologies.
This is a demanding, high-energy position that requires innovative solutions to customer problem sets. The selected candidate will join a multidisciplinary team that promotes customer service, and excellence in communication, innovation, collaboration, and teamwork.

Job Responsibilities:
- Provide onsite support for the customer while working closely with ECS team located in Fairfax, VA.
- Work with our team as a Cloud Engineer in our Azure environment servicing a DoD customer.
- Collaborate with a team of Cloud Engineers to support infrastructure support requests.
- Administrate and manage cloud infrastructure for a DoD client.
- Assist team members by providing technical support and troubleshooting expertise for complex problems.
- Help troubleshoot account issues with end users.
- Assist team with OS updates, upgrades, and patches as well as maintaining our deployment of new capabilities.
- Assist team with developing innovative solutions for network, hardware, and software problems.
- Document any developed processes and procedures.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Required Skills
- U.S. Citizen.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline. With no degree, 4+ years of relevant work experience may be substituted.
- Current DoD Secret security clearance required to interview/apply; must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with SCI indoctrination (TS/SCI).
- DoD 8140 IAT Level II / III certification (active, or within 60 calendar days of hire). Security+ or CISSP preferred.
- Active Microsoft and/or competing cloud technology certification or obtain within 365 calendar days of hire. Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) preferred.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience developing, engineering, and deploying enterprise-class IT infrastructure cloud systems and services.
- Recent hands-on experience with a wide range of cloud service providers and solutions, including experience and proficiency working with Azure cloud computing technologies across Windows and Linux endpoints.
- Experience with either Linux or Windows command line interface.
- Familiarity with JSON or YAML object writing.
- Familiarity with common protocols including but not limited to: DNS, SMTP, HTTP(s), SFTP, SCP.
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, Private Clouds etc.).
- Familiarity with scripting languages (Shell, Powershell, JavaScript, Python).
- Experience with Cloud networking (IP networking, VPNs, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, NAT, SSL/TLS, etc.).
- Ability to balance multiple, competing priorities and execute accordingly.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate solution.
- Highly developed interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, with the ability to effectively and professionally interact with a diverse set of stakeholders (from peers to end-users to executive management).
Desired Skills
- Proven experience in the assessment, evaluation, and documentation of client environment, infrastructure, processes, and operations.
- Hands-on experience deploying DoD SRGs and STIGs, or CIS compliance benchmarks.
- Understanding of orchestration tools (chef, puppet, ansible, or AWS SSM or codepipeline preferred).
- Proficiency with cloud networking and troubleshooting cloud networking environments (IP networking, VPNs, DNS, and load balancing).
- Azure Certification(s).
