The Clover platform scales from small businesses to large sports and entertainment venues globally, supporting millions of payment transactions daily.
As a Software Engineering Manager, you will lead our dynamic team in delivering solutions from design to development, deployment into production, and operational support across both existing and expanding regions. As part of our growth strategy, you will play a key role in modernizing the design and development of various value-added services offered to Clover Merchants.

Salary Range
$124,300.00 - $213,100.00
These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey, New York and California. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.

What does a Software Engineering Manager do at Clover?

As a Software Engineering Manager, you will lead our dynamic team in delivering solutions from design to development, deployment into production, and operational support across both existing and expanding regions. As part of our growth strategy, you will play a key role in modernizing the design and development of various value-added services offered to Clover Merchants.
What you will do:
- Lead a team of 4-6 engineers, managing their deliverables, execution, and career growth through mentoring and coaching. Provide inspiration and guidance while fostering a culture of transparency, collaboration, and innovation.
- Drive the end-to-end delivery of features to support the Clover product and platform working cross-functionally with Product Management, Design, Quality, Operations, and Customer Support teams.
- Balance technology advancements with efficient delivery of solutions, ensuring a technically challenging and enjoyable development environment.
- Define roadmaps and schedules to deliver high-quality solutions for clients and partners and ensure high technical quality by driving architectural decisions and leading code reviews with your team.
- Prepare and review technical designs, code reviews, and deliver high-quality architecture.
- Assess risks based on product complexity, resource availability, and timeline constraints.
- Partner with HR to identify and onboard engineering talent as we continue to grow and maintain relationships with internal and external partners during implementation to promptly address critical issues.
- Establish department standards and procedures to optimize implementation practices of new or upgraded products.
What you will need to have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant discipline.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in Backend/Web/Mobile development, software architecture, design patterns, and developing best practices.
- 5+ years of experience managing a team and mentoring and fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and an understanding of the software development lifecycle.
- Experience building customer-facing applications, owning the delivery of software projects and ensuring successful completion and high-quality outcomes.
- Experience managing projects, cross-functional teams and collaborating with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders.
- Proficiency with articulating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-solving experience and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential issues.
What would be great to have:
- Knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
- Experience with MongoDB, ArgoCD, Kubernetes or Helm Charts.
- Knowledgeable with integrating AI Tools to bring in efficiency and improve productivity of teams.
- Interest in staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
