Job Title: UX Designer (Lead) Consolidation Map Project
Location: Brooklyn, NY (Hybrid: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Duration: 1 year


About the Project

The goal of this initiative is to create a single digital hub where families can explore childcare options and access services for children aged 5 and under. The hub will also provide resources for childcare providers, including guidance on starting and maintaining services.

The hub will feature content and tools such as:

  • A detailed screening process for parents

  • A referrals section

  • Information about available childcare services

  • A unified map/provider locator of childcare providers


Position Overview

The UX Design Lead will play a central role in defining and executing the UX strategy, interaction design, and contributing to front-end development of the childcare hub website. Working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, this role will ensure the platform is user-driven, accessible, and scalable, supporting both families and childcare providers.

The hub is nearing launch, so this role will focus on final design refinements, while also planning and prototyping new features for Version 2.0. After launch, responsibilities will include monitoring performance metrics, refining user experience, and supporting feature growth.


Scope of Services

  • Lead the UX strategy and interaction design to deliver an intuitive, user-centered experience

  • Partner with internal teams to improve digital childcare access for families across New York

  • Create interactive prototypes for testing and iterate based on findings

  • Support content strategy and design alignment across the platform

  • Collaborate with developers to ensure seamless integration of design and technical solutions


Key Responsibilities

  • Work with product managers, UX researchers, content strategists, and developers to translate user needs into design solutions

  • Develop prototypes, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs for the childcare hub

  • Conduct usability testing for new features, analyze results, and recommend design improvements

  • Contribute to content design strategy to enhance user experience

  • Monitor user analytics post-launch and optimize designs for accessibility, inclusivity, and usability


Mandatory Skills/Experience

  • 8+ years in UX and interaction design with a strong portfolio of consumer-facing projects

  • Proficiency in Figma, with end-to-end design experience

  • Expertise in user-centered design processes (wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity designs)

  • Ability to synthesize user research, feedback, and analytics into actionable design updates

  • Experience testing digital product features and refining design based on results

  • Collaboration with content strategists on content-driven UX

  • Experience working closely with developers to align design and functionality

  • Strong communication skills to present concepts to cross-functional partners

  • Ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively


Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor s degree in Design, UX Design, HCI, Computer Science, or related field

  • Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams (PMs, engineers, strategists)

  • Experience with government or public-sector projects

  • Strong end-to-end design project leadership experience

  • Usability testing experience with strong analytical abilities

  • Knowledge of design systems, accessibility standards, and inclusive design practices
