What You Will Be Doing:

Within the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Sustainment organization, this Data Scientist Analyst Sr, level 3 position will work with a talented group of technical individuals supporting the F-22 program. This Sustainment Spares Modeling, Simulation, and Forecasting position will perform exploratory research and analysis to identify novel and meaningful relationships, patterns, or trends from complex data sets and uses statistical methods to reject or accept proposed hypotheses about relationships or latent predictive factors discovered through their work to provide business value. Areas of expertise should include several of the following: applied statistics, text mining, natural language processing, machine learning algorithms, optimization, and other similar fields. They should have demonstrable experience in developing predictive models and new algorithms to solve data / business problems; understanding the math and statistics behind the models and interpret, extrapolate, and prescribe from data delivering actionable recommendations using effective visualizations to influence business strategic decision-making.

To be eligible for this role, the candidate should have a Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate across internal teams and with external customers to assess and plan for spares needs that support mission readiness.

- Apply modeling & simulation technical principles, concepts and techniques to assess performance to contractual Key Performance Indicators.

- Support coordination and development of problem statements, modeling approaches and ground rules and assumptions (GR&A).

- Support internal planning by tracking team deliverables and identifying risks or opportunities for better performance.

- Provide model-driven recommendations that enable quick, informed decisions by execution teams and leadership.

- Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process automation solutions and efficiency enhancements.

- Analyze fielded performance developing solutions to assigned problems for the purpose of forecasting, root cause analysis, evaluation of potential solutions, and assessment of corrective actions.

- Participate in frequent customer engagements and provide data insights that align with their sustainment needs.

Basic Qualifications

- 5 Years of technical experience in Aerospace Engineering (or a related technical discipline: Industrial, Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Etc), Data Science, Data Analysis, Physics, or Mathematics (use of stochastic and deterministic data models); emphasis in modeling, data manipulation, and/or the application of mathematical and statistical methods to apply to business and risk management problems.
- Experience with/knowledge of (one or more common languages e.g., Python, SQL, and R), statistics (descriptive and inferential), data processing and data visualization
- Experience with critical interactions and relationships between cross-functional teams (i.e. engineering, sustainment, contracts, business management, finance, and/or aerospace program office)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and understanding of system databases, data elements and/or application software solutions to optimize data gathering and analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office tool suite.

Desired skills

- Experience collecting and compiling datasets from disparate data sources into the required data structure (SQL and NO SQL based), data analysis via multi-criteria decision modeling including discrete event simulations, statistical & risk analysis, life-cycle cost analysis, performance & cost trade-offs, and business case analysis
- Experience managing data quality and configuration control.
- Ability to interact with the customer to work through data issues and discrepancies
- Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
- Desire to learn data management, reporting and data architecture, information architecture, data analytics, programming, and information technology systems
- Experience mining, processing, summarizing and visualizing data

Ability to work remotely

Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $104,900 - $184,920. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays.
