Our client, a Seed-stage GenAI startup in Cambridge, MA, is hiring a Senior Back-End Engineer. Work with the founding team on cutting-edge AI, shape product & architecture, and impact enterprise software creation. Competitive pay $150K $200K + equity, onsite.

Our client is a Seed-stage Generative AI startup in Cambridge, MA, on a mission to automate custom software creation and redefine the future of software development.

Backed by tier-1 investors and led by founders with multiple successful exits and dozens of Generative AI patents, the company is building a founding engineering team to tackle some of the hardest problems in enterprise software.


The Role

They are seeking a Senior Back-End Engineer to own and shape major components of their platform. You ll work closely with the CTO and founding team, influencing product, architecture, and technical strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and ship backend systems in production.

  • Use Generative AI tools to enhance software quality and productivity.

  • Make technical architecture decisions with a long-term view on speed, safety, and scalability.

  • Collaborate closely with sales, design, and engineering teams in an in-person environment.

  • Take ownership of your code and ensure smooth operation across the software lifecycle.

  • Learn quickly and solve problems in unfamiliar technologies or domains.

  • Communicate openly and align the team on technical decisions.


Required Skills & Expertise

  • Strong backend experience in Python, Terraform, and Google Cloud Platform.

  • Experience with Node.js, NuxtJS, Express.js, or other backend frameworks.

  • Cloud platforms: Google Cloud, AWS, Azure.

  • Programming languages: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C++, Go.

  • APIs & RPCs: REST, gRPC, GraphQL.

  • Databases: SQL, NoSQL, Postgres, MongoDB, Firebase.

  • CI/CD: Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab or similar.

  • Source control: Git, Perforce.

  • Microservices architecture experience.

Bonus / Ways to Stand Out

  • Familiarity with AI/ML platforms: OpenAI, Anthropic, HuggingFace, Vertex AI, Bedrock, SageMaker.

  • Experience building enterprise-scale applications with high availability (>99% SLA).

  • Prior startup or enterprise software experience.
