Our client is seeking an experienced Fiber/OSP Construction Engineer for an exciting long term contract opportunity with a fast growing company in the telecommunications industry. This is a hybrid role and requires this person to sit in one of the following markets: Minneapolis, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Albuquerque, Charlotte, Orlando or Wilkes-Barre

Fiber/OSP Construction Engineer

The Fiber/OSP Construction Engineer is responsible for the design and maintenance of fiber optic and outside plant (OSP) infrastructure. This role involves planning and executing projects related to the installation and upkeep of fiber optic cables, poles, towers, conduits, and associated equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Planning:
  • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for OSP construction projects using CAD and GIS software
  • Engineer OSP facilities including conduit systems, manholes, handholes, pedestals, aerial and buried cable systems
  • Create high-level preliminary route designs and facility specifics to manage fielding request instructions
Maintenance:
  • Coordinate with field teams to verify and locate existing OSP infrastructure and identify potential construction obstacles
Compliance:
  • Obtain required permits and approvals for OSP construction projects from municipalities, utilities, and other regulatory agencies
  • Ensure that OSP designs are compliant with applicable regulations and industry standards
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate documentation of OSP construction projects and update as necessary
  • Provide design lead with updates on progress and roadblocks
  • Support QC and as-built efforts with design changes/updates
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure including copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, Civil, or Telecommunications Engineering
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in OSP engineering and construction
  • Basic knowledge of construction practices, procurement, and contract administration

Pay Range: $50/HR depending on experience. The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
