Job Details

Hunter Strategy seeks a Strategic Planner to support operational planning efforts for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). This position reports to the Operations Planning Manager and works as part of a three-person operational planning team supporting multiple concurrent Joint Planning Groups (JPGs). The Strategic Planner executes Joint Planning Process (JPP) activities, develops course of action (COA) analysis, and produces planning deliverables in support of DISA's cyberspace operations mission. This role requires strong analytical skills, ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, and adaptability in a fast-paced planning environment.

Essential Functions

  • Execute Joint Planning Process (JPP) methodology including mission analysis, COA development, wargaming, and order development under Operations Planning Manager guidance
  • Produce Planning Reports, Information Papers, and COA documents in government-approved formats meeting quality and timeline standards
  • Support crisis action planning using modified JPP for rapid response and assist contingency planning for DISA, Combatant Commands, USCYBERCOM, or JFHQ-DODIN
  • Analyze national and DoD-level directives to inform planning efforts and research operational environments, threats, and requirements
  • Participate in Joint Planning Groups, Operational Planning Teams, and Battle Rhythm Command and Control Working Groups
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders including USCYBERCOM, JFHQ-DODIN, and Combatant Commands using secure platforms (JWICS, SIPRNet)
  • Support cyberspace operations planning including development of plans, orders, and COAs to deter DODIN attacks

Experience & Education

  • 2 - 4 years' experience with computer systems and system development methodologies
  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent)
  • Experience producing written analytical products and briefing materials

Technical Competencies

  • Understanding of DoD planning processes and Joint Planning Process (JPP) fundamentals
  • Familiarity with Joint Publication 5-0 or similar military planning doctrine
  • Knowledge of national security strategy frameworks and DoD organizational structure
  • Basic understanding of cyberspace operations concepts (beneficial but not required)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project)
  • Experience with collaboration tools (SharePoint, Teams, or similar platforms)
