- SQL Server Versions: 2016/2017 (being upgraded) ? 2019 & 2022

- On-Prem Infrastructure:
- Two data centers (Atlanta & Vegas)
- 30 40 warehouses with localized SQL Server deployments
- Monitoring Tools: Foglight, SolarWinds, Quest utilities
- Ticketing/SLAs: Managed via ServiceNow
Team Structure & Role in Org
- Total DBAs: 4 (Oracle SME, mixed DBA, SQL DBA, open SQL DBA role)
- Reports to: Pallav Kalva
- This role: Primarily SQL Server, but expected to mentor others, including Oracle DBAs
- Redshift and PostgreSQL experience are nice-to-have (future roadmap)
On-Call Expectations
- One-week rotation per month
- Standard hours apply during on-call weeks (no additional onsite days required)

MANAGER MUST HAVES:
Skill Set required: SQL Server, Redshift, Postgres, Oracle
Minimum 10 years of experience working with SQL Server as a database administrator.
Minimum 7 years of experience working with large, complex databases in a mid-to-large size enterprise environment.
Experience with Cloud services AWS and Azure.
Experience working with SQL Server Integration Services and Reporting Services.
Experience with other database technologies like Oracle, Redshift and Postgres.
In depth understanding of Windows Failover Clustering, SQL Server Always On architecture and Disaster Recovery.
Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO) using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
Excellent communication skills a must.
Project management skills.
Ability to analyze and solve problems.
Ability to multi-task effectively between different activities and teams.
Ability to provide 24x7 support.

Overview:
Looking for a Senior Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator to support multiple databases in both clustered and non-clustered environments. The individual must be able to provide production support for mission-critical systems as well as support development teams during the application development lifecycle. The individual will also serve as the primary point of contact for coordination and resolution of SQL Server issues with Microsoft.
The position is in the database administration team within the operations group but has strong interface requirements with the application development groups throughout the company.
Responsibilities:
Lead the planning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of SQL Server databases.
Monitor database performance, implement tuning improvements, and ensure high availability and disaster recovery strategies.
Design and implement database security policies, backup and recovery strategies, and data retention plans.
Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to optimize database design and support application performance.
Support the development, implementation and daily administration of SQL Server databases
Oversee database change management and release processes.
Develop and maintain documentation for database systems, processes, and procedures.
Establish and enforce database standards, policies, and procedures across environments.
Drive automation initiatives to streamline database operations and reduce manual tasks.
Lead database migration and upgrade projects, including cloud adoption strategies (Azure, AWS).
Support business continuity planning and testing for database systems.
Work with the application teams and 3rd party vendors to monitor all SQL databases and provide tuning recommendations as needed.
Perform all routine scheduled SQL Server and database maintenance.
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends related to database management and architecture.
