Role: MQ Admin

Location: Atlanta, GA

Must Have Technical/Functional Skills:

  • Strong understanding of core IBM MQ concepts (Queue Managers, Queues, Channels, Clustering, Publish/Subscribe, Security).
  • Strong experience supporting IBM MQ in a Mainframe Environment (z/OS).
  • Familiarity with SMP/E, ISPF, JCL, SDSF and other z/OS tools
  • Working knowledge of middleware integration across distributed and mainframe environments
  • Experience with Enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., Omegamon, Tivoli).

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Administer, monitor and maintain IBM Mainframe MQ on z/OS platforms
  • Perform MQ configurations, installations, patching and upgrades
  • Create and manage MQ objects (Queues, channels, listeners, etc.).
  • Monitor the health of the Mainframe MQ environments and help troubleshoot issues to determine root cause
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting message flows, dead-letter queues, and channel connectivity
  • Install and maintain third party software products related to Mainframe MQ
  • Monitor MQ system performance metrics, message throughput, and latency
  • Analyze MQ logs and trace data to optimize configurations
  • Respond to incidents, diagnose root causes, and implement corrective actions, participating in on-call rotation if applicable
