Vaco is partnering with a growing financial advisory firm that’s scaling its technology organization across multiple offices, including locally in the Phoenix Valley. Reporting directly to the CIO, the Director of Technology Strategy & Governance will define, mature, and execute the firm’s enterprise technology roadmap—spanning digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity domains.
This is a high-visibility role responsible for ensuring that technology investments align with business priorities, regulatory expectations, and enterprise risk posture. You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with senior leaders in cloud, data, product, and cyber to shape the next phase of growth in a cloud-first Azure environment.
Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Develop and maintain a multi-year technology roadmap covering digital platforms, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise data initiatives.

Technology Governance: Establish decision-making frameworks and standards that drive alignment between technology strategy, security, and business outcomes.

Regulatory & Risk Oversight: Ensure compliance with SEC, FINRA, SOC 2, and other regulatory frameworks; prepare audit documentation and board-level updates.

Cloud & Data Enablement: Collaborate with engineering and architecture teams to strengthen Azure governance, data quality, and lifecycle management.

Vendor & Third-Party Risk: Partner with procurement and security teams to assess technology vendors and manage contractual risk.

Metrics & Reporting: Create KPIs/KRIs that measure technology health, maturity, and compliance effectiveness.

Team Development: Mentor technology leads and managers; foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across multiple office locations
What You’ll Bring
-
10+ years in technology governance, IT strategy, or enterprise risk within financial services, fintech, or other regulated environments.

Proven ability to partner with C-suite and other senior executives to translate strategic goals into actionable programs.

Deep familiarity with frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, COBIT, SOC 2, and cloud governance models (Azure preferred).

Strong grasp of data governance, identity management, and software delivery controls.

Excellent communication skills with experience preparing executive and board-level presentations.

Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related discipline (Master’s or MBA preferred).

Relevant certifications (CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, CISSP, or PMP) a plus.
