Job Title: Materials Lab Technician
Location: Moline, IL
Duration: 36 + Months Contract/Temp with the possibility of extension
Shift Details: 1st Shift 40 hours (8am to 5pm)

Job Description:
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Materials Lab Technician to join our advanced manufacturing team. This entry-level role supports the operation of an additive manufacturing lab, involving 3D printing, materials testing, and metallurgical sample preparation. Ideal candidates are mechanically inclined, local to the area, and eager to work in a technical lab environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Set up, operate, and maintain lab equipment including metal & plastic 3D printers, sectioning saws, polishing machines, and wear testers.
Monitor 3D printing processes and perform post-processing tasks (sanding, machining, finishing).
Prepare test samples including wear test coupons, adhesive lap shear samples, and metallographic mounts.
Perform materials testing (wear, hardness, microstructure imaging) and document results in lab request system.
Maintain equipment logs and ensure proper calibration and care of lab tools.
Collaborate with team members and engineers to fulfil lab test requests.
Follow safety guidelines and lab procedures rigorously.

Must-Have Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Technical certification or associate degree preferred (not required).
Must be local or able to reliably commute (no relocation assistance provided).
Mechanically inclined and comfortable working with tools, machines, and lab equipment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions.

Preferred Experience:
Experience with 3D printing or additive manufacturing.
Exposure to materials testing (wear, hardness, metallurgical prep).
Background in manufacturing, engineering tech, or R&D lab environments.
Comfortable interpreting basic engineering or technical documents.
